What makes e-commerce work in Kenya

Online shopping in Kenya has its own rules. Most buyers are on mobile phones, most pay with M-Pesa, many want to ask a question on WhatsApp before buying, and delivery fees and times vary widely by area. An online store copied from a foreign template, with card-only checkout and no delivery logic, loses most of its customers before they pay.

We design stores around four Kenyan realities: M-Pesa-first checkout, clear delivery zones and fees, WhatsApp for questions and updates, and fast pages on mobile data. Everything else, from product photos to promotions, builds on those foundations.

M-Pesa integration done properly

Many Kenyan stores "accept M-Pesa" by showing a till number and asking customers to send a screenshot. That creates fake screenshots, manual checking and delayed orders. We integrate Safaricom's Daraja API so the customer receives a payment prompt on their phone, enters their PIN, and the store confirms the order automatically when Safaricom confirms the payment. Failed and timed-out payments are handled cleanly, and every transaction is matched to its order. Read how M-Pesa website integration works.

Selling more after launch

A store that launches and waits rarely grows. Once your store is live, the biggest gains come from fast replies to product questions, abandoned-cart reminders, repeat-customer offers and product pages that rank on Google. Our WhatsApp AI assistant can answer product, size, stock and delivery questions in chat and send a payment request without the customer leaving WhatsApp. See AI for e-commerce in Kenya for examples.

Product pages that rank

Most Kenyan online stores reuse manufacturer descriptions, so dozens of sites compete with identical text. We write or improve product and category pages with original descriptions, specifications, prices in shillings, delivery information, FAQs and Product schema, so Google and AI shopping assistants can show your products with price and availability. Category pages target searches like "buy office chairs in Nairobi" or "baby clothes online Kenya", which bring buyers who are ready to pay.

Pricing and timeline

E-commerce websites start from $1,199 and typically launch in two to four weeks. Add-ons include WhatsApp automation, CRM, product photography guidance and SEO articles. Price your store in our estimator.

Moving from Instagram or WhatsApp selling

Many of our e-commerce clients start out selling through Instagram posts and WhatsApp status. We import your existing products, keep your social channels as traffic sources and link every post to the right product page, so customers can check price, stock and delivery and pay with M-Pesa without waiting for a reply. Your social following becomes buyers who check out by themselves, and your team spends its time packing orders instead of answering the same questions.

Why businesses choose Kavenacc

  • One team for everything digital. Websites, online stores, CRMs, WhatsApp AI agents, mobile apps and command-center dashboards are built by the same team on the same data, so nothing has to be stitched together later.
  • Published prices. Starting prices are on our homepage, and the estimator gives you a fixed figure before you commit. There are no surprise invoices for features that should have been included.
  • You own everything. Code, domain, hosting, app store listings, WhatsApp number and data are in your name, and every login is handed over at launch.
  • Speed you can measure. We test with Google Lighthouse and hold builds to the same high scores as our own site, because fast pages rank better and convert more visitors on mobile data.
  • Built for Kenya. M-Pesa STK Push, WhatsApp, Swahili, budget Android phones and patchy networks are the starting point, not afterthoughts.
  • Measured by results. Enquiries are tracked from first click to paid invoice, so you see which pages, campaigns and channels bring revenue.
  • Support after launch. Care plans cover hosting, backups, security, updates and monthly improvements, with a real person on WhatsApp when you need help.

Payment terms

Projects are usually paid in milestones: a deposit to start, a payment when you approve the working build, and the balance at launch. Larger projects such as CRMs, apps and command centers can be split into monthly instalments. We accept M-Pesa, bank transfer and card. Every quote lists exactly what's included, the timeline and the running costs after launch, so you can compare it fairly with any other offer.
